Role of the Orbitofrontal Cortex in OCD
The orbitofrontal cortex, a region in the frontal lobe associated with learning and decision-making, is considered to have a critical function in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. In individuals with OCD, this brain area exhibits heightened activity, particularly when they are exposed to provoking stimuli, such as images of uncleanliness or disarray.
