Influence of Child's Temperament on Parenting Style
A child's temperament can significantly influence the parenting style they receive, creating a bidirectional relationship. For example, children who are social, adaptable, and easy to soothe tend to elicit warm and responsive parenting. In contrast, children who are demanding, irritable, or withdrawn may evoke irritation in their parents or even cause them to withdraw from interaction (Sanson & Rothbart, 1995).
